Richland County teachers will bring dozens of new classroom projects to students after receiving more than $83,000 in education grants from the Richland County Foundation.
Funding came from the foundation’s unrestricted grant budget and field-of-interest funds, according to a community announcement.
The education grants support creative and innovative supplemental classroom programs that are not covered by traditional school funding. Grants are awarded to K-12 teachers in public and private schools throughout Richland County to encourage development of new classroom initiatives.
Seventy-six teachers from districts and schools across the county received funding for projects ranging from robotics and STEM education to literacy, arts, career exploration and music programs.
Grant recipients represented Buckeye, Clear Fork, Crestview, Discovery School, Legacy Academy, Lexington, Madison, Mansfield, Mansfield Christian, Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center, Ontario, Plymouth-Shiloh, Richland School of Academic Arts, Shelby, St. Mary School and Temple Christian School.
Funded projects included classroom literacy initiatives, STEM and robotics programs, career-readiness activities, arts education and specialty learning experiences.
Among the projects selected were “AI Robotics & Drone” at Crestview, “Mission Code” at Mansfield City Schools, “STEM & Robotics” at Lexington, “America 250” at Temple Christian School and “Classroom Without Walls” at Discovery School. Other funded efforts focused on reading and phonics instruction, science enrichment, music education and entrepreneurship.
