Clemson University’s College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences has launched CECAS Global Scholars, a new fellowship program designed to support select incoming master’s students.
The inaugural cohort includes five students who began their graduate studies at Clemson this fall. Global Scholars receive a fellowship stipend and a reduction to in-state tuition rates to help support their studies.
The program is administered through the CECAS Office of Graduate Studies and is intended to help the college recruit and support highly qualified graduate students.
The inaugural Global Scholars were recognized Sept. 9 at Orange Horizons, a new fellowship recognition event at the Barnes Center. They were honored alongside new and continuing Dean’s Scholar Fellows, Ph.D. students who receive a $5,000 fellowship stipend in addition to an assistantship offer.
“These fellowships recognize what they have already accomplished, but they are also an investment in what comes next: the research they will pursue, the connections they will make and the impact they will have at Clemson and beyond,” said Melissa Smith, associate dean for graduate studies.
