SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Eight South Dakota students just spent part of their summer on a once-in-a-lifetime science trip – including a stop in the U.K.
The group, all recent high school grads or college freshmen, are Davis-Bahcall scholars, part of a four-week, all-expense-paid STEM program run through the Institute for Underground Science at SURF.
The scholars toured labs and STEM industries in the U.S. and abroad, connected with scientists and engineers, and ended the program by presenting their own research.
Organizers say the goal is to show students where a career in science, technology, engineering, or math can take them, and help launch the next generation of STEM leaders.
