EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WAND) – Two alumni of Lake Land College recently showcased the current advances in 3D printing during the monthly STEM Night event.
Matt Ogle of Charleston, a software engineering manager with the digital student safety company Gaggle, and Cody McQueen of Oakland, a network/systems engineer with Eastern Illinois Area of Special Education, led the free, interactive workshop.
More than 30 people attended the event. After receiving tutorials on several design platforms, participants were able to construct and print their own 3D projects.
Future STEM Nights will be scheduled from 5-7 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every month at the Effingham Technology Center.
The next event is on Oct. 7 and will focus on coding with the free programming language Scratch.
“We’ve been thrilled to have such wonderful results from our new STEM Night events,” said Tiffany Maillet-Gibson, Lake Land College Innovation Center assistant. “We introduced these events to provide our community with free, beginner-friendly opportunities to engage in fun STEM activities, and it’s been very rewarding to see them resonate early on with so many eager learners across the region.”
