Lindale Middle School has earned national recognition for its STEM program, becoming the second Anne Arundel County middle school this year to receive Nationally Certified-Demonstration status from Magnet Schools of America.
The school was recertified by Magnet Schools of America and designated a National Demonstration School, recognizing its work in innovation, equity, diversity, academic achievement and community engagement.
“I am honored and deeply appreciative of the dedication and exceptional work of our district’s STEM Department, our STEM Site Director, teachers, students and parents,” Lindale Principal Rodney Walker said. “Achieving Nationally Certified-Demonstration status is a significant accomplishment and a tremendous honor for our school and the entire Lindale community.”

Magnet Schools of America evaluates schools using five core areas: diversity, innovative curriculum and professional development, academic excellence, high-quality instructional systems, and family and community partnerships.
Those criteria form the organization’s National Magnet School Standards of Excellence and are used to identify high-performing magnet programs across the country.
Lindale’s STEM program also includes a robotics program that has earned local and national recognition while helping prepare students for careers in science, technology, engineering and math.

Lindale is one of three STEM magnet middle schools in Anne Arundel County Public Schools.
Central Middle School also earned Nationally Certified STEM Demonstration School status this year. Old Mill Middle School South currently holds national certification from Magnet Schools of America and is expected to seek recertification in 2027.
