British brand LYMA has launched a new five-part framework designed to help consumers assess the evidence, outcomes and long-term value behind health and wellness purchases.

Launched today, the framework can be applied to supplements and diagnostic scans, as well as topical skincare and devices. LYMA is asking premium health and wellness businesses to adopt it as a shared minimum standard across the sector.
The proposal responds to a growing gap between wellness spending and consumer understanding. The Global Wellness Institute valued the global wellness economy at $6.8 trillion in 2024 and expects it to approach $9.8 trillion by 2029.
It comes after research commissioned for the P.O.W.E.R. Index report, in partnership with The Future Laboratory, found that 56% of women have difficulty telling apart genuinely science-supported products from those that borrow scientific language.
Another 57% said finding trustworthy and relevant health information requires more work than it should, while 72% believed the industry prioritises new innovations over proving the value of existing products.
The findings reflect a wider comprehension problem across beauty. Separate research from Skin Rocks found that 85% of women considered skincare too full of jargon for the average consumer to understand.
The index sets out five questions designed to provide a starting point for assessing a purchase, rather than guaranteeing a particular outcome:
Lucy Goff, founder of LYMA, said: “We built LYMA on the belief that health should be held to the same standard as any other serious investment. The P.O.W.E.R. Index is the first time that standard has been written down, and it belongs to the industry, not just to us.
“We want to empower our customers to be able to make informed decisions about their health and wellness products using the P.O.W.E.R Index heralding a new era of power in Women’s health. ”
The initiative follows LYMA’s expansion across beauty technology, skincare and supplements. The company entered the gut health market with ID² in June, while its latest skincare system launched in July.
LYMA has made the full P.O.W.E.R. Index report available online as it seeks support for the proposed standard across the wider health and wellness industry.
