Oklahoma teachers can sign up for free workshops that provide training and classroom resources focused on science, technology, engineering and math as part of the Oklahoma Department of Transportation’s STEM Outreach Program.
ODOT has announced workshop dates for the 2026-27 school year. The program, launched in August 2024, is available to K-12 teachers across Oklahoma and uses transportation and engineering concepts to teach STEM lessons.
During the workshops, teachers complete activities from a student’s perspective to learn how they can incorporate the lessons into their classrooms.
After completing the training, each participant is eligible to select a STEM kit that ODOT purchases and ships directly to the teacher’s school.
Kit options include:

“By giving teachers hands-on resources and training, we can help students explore transportation and engineering in a way that is engaging, practical and relevant while also showing them career possibilities they may not have considered before,” STEM Outreach Program Manager Kala Fowler said.
Schools can request field trips to ODOT’s Sign Shop and Materials Laboratory. ODOT engineers also are available to participate in classroom lessons or speak with students about engineering, transportation and STEM careers.
The workshops are hosted by ODOT in partnership with the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials and are offered at no cost to teachers or their schools.
