Samsung has opened applications for its 17th annual Solve for Tomorrow competition in the US. The program invites public middle and high school students in grades 6-12 who want to develop STEM-based solutions to community problems. The company will also give a new AI Impact Award this year.
Samsung Solve for Tomorrow helps students use science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to solve challenges in their communities. Students can look into issues related to areas such as public health, accessibility, the environment, sports, and other community needs.
The 2026 Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition is now open for US schools. It will accept applications until November 23, 2026. Educators can apply for their classrooms by answering five questions about the community problem, their STEM solution, and its possible impact.
The company also offers free resources to help educators with the application process, including Virtual Application Clinics and Design Thinking workshops.

Samsung will announce the Promising Innovators and semi-finalists on January 20, 2027. The company will announce the national finalists on March 18, followed by the final event and live winner announcement in April 2027.
This year’s competition will have one national winner. The winning school can receive up to $50,000 in Samsung technology and resources, including funding through education nonprofit DonorsChoose. The company will also recognize winners through Community Choice, Employee Choice, and the new AI Impact Award.
Speaking of the AI Impact Award, Samsung will recognize teams that understand real-world problems and use AI and emerging technology thoughtfully. The award also spotlights projects that promote ethical and responsible innovation.
Samsung is partnering with MIT Solve for the first time this year. MIT Solve will bring its problem-solving methods and research to the competition. It will also add more than 10 years of experience to the judging process and give students a new perspective as they work on their solutions.
