The Southern Arkansas University College of Science and Engineering recognized five faculty members as recipients of its 2025–2026 Outstanding Awards during the college’s annual back-to-school meeting in August.
The Outstanding Awards are among the college’s highest honors, presented annually to faculty members who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and achievement in their respective areas. Recipients are selected based on nominations submitted by peers and students, reflecting the genuine impact these individuals have had through their work with students, colleagues, the University and their respective disciplines.
The 2025–2026 College of Science and Engineering Outstanding Award recipients are:
Austin Shaw, instructor of nathematics – Outstanding Teaching Award
Stacy Allen, instructor of nathematics – Outstanding Teaching Award
Dr. Bruhadeshwar Bezawada, associate professor of computer science – Outstanding Research Award
Dr. Adrian Showalter, assistant professor of biology – Outstanding Service Award
Dr. Josh Walker, Assistant Professor of Animal Science – Outstanding Advising Award
“These awards reflect the remarkable talent and commitment found throughout our college,” said Dr. Abdel Bachri, dean of the College of Science and Engineering. “What makes these recognitions especially meaningful is that the nominations come from peers and students, the individuals who see firsthand the dedication, mentorship, scholarship and service our faculty provide. I congratulate each of this year’s recipients and thank them for the positive impact they continue to have on our students and the college.”
