The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, and will feature presentations by paleontologists from across the country.
The participating scientists will pick fossils from the museum’s collections and discuss them, in addition to conducting scientific research in front of the public, according to a news release from the Western Science Center.
The event includes a scavenger hunt and hands-on activities, and there will be food Missy’s Hotdogs available.
This year’s PaleoCon includes presentations by the museum’s 2026 cohort of Teen Ambassadors, local high school students who have spent six weeks of summer break collaborating with Western Science Center staff members on scientific outreach projects.

Each is spending several days before the event conducting additional research in the museum’s collections.
All PaleoCon activities and events, excluding food, will be included in regular museum admission, according to the news release.
