More than 3,800 children, parents, teachers and science enthusiasts gathered in Lagos for the sixth edition of STEM Africa Fest, where young participants were introduced to practical skills in artificial intelligence, robotics, coding and entrepreneurship.
Held at the Landmark Event Centre under the theme “Building Future Innovators,” the festival brought together participants from more than 119 schools and 46 exhibitors for hands-on activities covering robotics, artificial intelligence, drone technology, engineering and other emerging technologies.
The festival moved beyond classroom-based learning, giving children opportunities to build robots, write code, conduct science experiments and take part in engineering challenges designed to strengthen their problem-solving and innovation skills.
Co-founder of STEM Africa Fest, Jadesola Adedeji, said the event was created to give children opportunities to explore and develop their curiosity through practical learning.
She said the festival was designed to demonstrate that STEM education could go beyond textbooks and traditional classroom instruction by allowing children to build and experiment with technology.
Activities at the event included coding boot camps, drone demonstrations, AI storytelling sessions, science laboratories, engineering competitions, 3D innovation workshops, mental mathematics challenges, chess programmes and a Young Innovators Showcase featuring projects developed by participating children.
Co-founder of 9ijakids and festival organiser, Titi Adewusi, said the initiative focuses on helping children gain practical exposure to technologies that are increasingly shaping education, business and the future workplace.
According to her, participants are encouraged to build and experiment with technologies rather than simply learn about them theoretically.
The festival also provided opportunities for children to explore entrepreneurship and understand how technological skills can be applied to develop solutions and businesses.
The event comes amid growing efforts by governments, schools and private organisations across Africa to strengthen STEM education and prepare young people for a labour market increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, automation and digital technologies.
Since its launch in 2021, STEM Africa Fest said it has reached more than 20,000 children, parents and educators across Nigeria and other African countries through experiential STEM learning programmes.
The 2026 edition was supported by organisations including 9ijakids, STEM-METS, Golden Penny, Argentil Capital Partners, Access Bank, FirstBank, Lebara, Nigerian Breweries, VDL Technologies and Iwosan Health Systems.

TGM Academy has unveiled an ambitious plan to train and certify 10,000 professional talent managers across Africa by 2030, as part of efforts to strengthen the systems supporting artists, entertainers and creative professionals across the continent.
The initiative was announced in Lagos by Toyosi Etim-Effiong, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of That Good Media and TGM Academy, during the inaugural Talent Management Leadership Roundtable, which brought together stakeholders from government, diplomatic missions, the creative industry and development organisations to discuss the future of professional talent management in Africa.
The event also marked the introduction of TGM Academy as a specialised institution focused on developing talent management professionals through structured education, industry partnerships and practical training. According to Brandspur Brand News, the academy plans to support its long-term vision with a ₦2.5 billion funding programme designed to expand professional opportunities within Africa’s creative sector.
Etim-Effiong said the initiative is aimed at addressing gaps within the creative ecosystem by building a pipeline of skilled talent managers equipped to support artists and creative professionals in areas such as career strategy, brand development, partnerships and global representation.
Stakeholders at the roundtable highlighted the need for stronger support structures within Africa’s creative industries, with discussions centred on ethical leadership, institutional collaboration, international partnerships and sustainable career development for creatives.
Representatives from the United Kingdom, South Africa, the Netherlands and the British Council emphasised the importance of cross-border partnerships in creating more opportunities for African talent to access global markets. Officials from the Lagos State Government and the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy also expressed support for initiatives focused on human capital development and strengthening the state’s creative economy.
The programme featured discussions on leadership, ecosystem development, brand partnerships and international representation, with industry executives sharing insights into the changing role of talent managers in building sustainable careers for creatives.
During the event, TGM Academy introduced Megowa, a digital platform designed to connect African creatives, talent managers, brands and cultural institutions within a trusted professional network.
The academy also announced a scholarship fund to support aspiring talent managers through sponsorships from public and private sector partners. The initiative is expected to improve access to professional training and create a new generation of skilled managers capable of driving growth across Africa’s entertainment and cultural industries.
TGM Academy said insights from the roundtable will guide the development of its curriculum, partnerships and future programmes ahead of its official launch, as it works to establish globally competitive standards for talent management across Africa.

The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has introduced new guidelines for the taxation of virtual assets, establishing a regulatory framework for cryptocurrency and other digital asset transactions in Nigeria.
The guidelines, issued in line with the Nigeria Tax Act, 2025, and the Nigeria Tax Administration Act, 2025, provide clarity on the tax obligations of individuals and businesses operating within the country’s growing digital economy.
In a public notice released on Monday, the NRS said the Guidelines on the Taxation of Virtual Assets were developed to guide taxpayers, Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs), Peer-to-Peer (P2P) marketplace operators, tax professionals and other stakeholders involved in virtual asset activities.
According to the agency, the guidelines outline key compliance requirements, including registration, reporting, record-keeping obligations, valuation methods and the tax treatment of virtual asset transactions.
“The Guidelines provide a clear administrative framework for the taxation of virtual assets in Nigeria. They set out the applicable tax obligations, including registration, reporting and record-keeping obligations, valuation principles, and the tax treatment of virtual asset transactions in accordance with the provisions of the Nigeria Tax Act, 2025, and the Nigeria Tax Administration Act, 2025,” the NRS stated.
The agency explained that the move is part of broader tax reforms aimed at expanding Nigeria’s tax base, improving compliance and creating greater certainty around emerging sectors within the digital economy.
The NRS said the guidelines demonstrate its commitment to providing a consistent and transparent approach to tax administration as virtual assets become increasingly integrated into Nigeria’s financial ecosystem.
“The issuance of these Guidelines is part of the Service’s commitment to providing clarity, certainty and consistency in the administration of Nigeria’s tax laws as they relate to the rapidly evolving virtual asset ecosystem,” the agency said.
It added that the framework is designed to encourage voluntary compliance, improve transparency and support the development of an efficient tax system for digital asset transactions.
The revenue service urged all affected stakeholders to review the guidelines and comply with their tax responsibilities. It also confirmed that the document is available for download through its official website.
The introduction of the guidelines marks a shift in Nigeria’s approach to regulating digital assets. While cryptocurrency activities previously faced significant regulatory restrictions, authorities have increasingly moved towards establishing clearer rules to govern the sector.
The new framework follows the enactment of the Nigeria Tax Act, 2025, and the Nigeria Tax Administration Act, 2025, which introduced reforms covering emerging areas of economic activity, including virtual assets.
The reforms are expected to strengthen tax administration, improve government revenue generation and provide a more predictable regulatory environment for businesses, investors and other participants in Nigeria’s digital economy.
