Portland, Ore. — Tracey Scherban, chairperson at the American Chemical Society, was featured on Innovators’ Journey to discuss her work with women in STEM and the importance of inspiring young women and girls to pursue careers in science. Ms. Scherban holds a Doctor of Philosophy and worked as a materials scientist and educator before shifting her focus to advocacy, mentorship and visibility for women in STEM. She recently attended the International Day of Women and Girls in Science Assembly at the United Nations in New York City, which emphasized women being creators, innovators and leaders in the industry. Ms. Scherban is dedicated to advocating equality in STEM, noting that it is a rewarding field to work in.
