There’s a jar sitting on a lab bench in Strasbourg that isn’t for sale. That’s kind of the point. Core Biogenesis built it, alongside its Italian distribution partner Faravelli, purely to make an argument: that the same biotech doing serious work on faces could do just as much for the rest of the body, if anyone bothered to formulate it that way.
They’re calling it Skin Longevity Butter.
The gap it’s pointing at is a real one. Facial skincare has spent the past several years absorbing genuinely advanced science, lab-grown growth factors, barrier-repair peptides, actives with actual clinical trials behind them. Body care mostly hasn’t kept pace. A body butter is still, for most people, a body butter: something that moisturizes and smells nice. Core Biogenesis wanted to know what happens if you stop treating that as a given.
Two ingredients do the heavy lifting: Peauforia and Peauvita, proprietary biomimetic growth factor technologies Core Biogenesis developed using its own plant-based production platform [1]. In plain terms, they’re lab-made compounds engineered to behave like the growth factors skin already produces to repair itself, encapsulated in tiny lipid capsules called oleosomes that help carry the actives where they need to go. None of that would matter much if the formulation didn’t also feel like something people would actually want to use, so the team paired those actives with Illipe butter and a supporting lipid blend, aiming for a texture rich enough that the science doesn’t announce itself.
Tony Abboud, Chief Commercial Officer at Core Biogenesis, frames the logic simply.
“As skincare routines extend beyond the face, biotechnology offers an opportunity to create body care that supports skin quality, resilience and longevity,” he said. “Skin Longevity Butter provides a glimpse into what that future could look like.”
Skin Longevity Butter isn’t a one-off. It’s part of a wider Longevity Concepts collection the two companies have built together, which also includes a Lip Longevity Gloss and an Eye Longevity Shadow, both running the same growth-factor approach into color cosmetics rather than skincare proper. Taken together, the collection reads less like a product launch and more like a pitch deck aimed at other brands: here’s what’s possible if you’re willing to formulate around it.
That pitch lands at a moment when longevity has become one of beauty’s most reliable growth stories, no longer confined to the premium skincare shelf and increasingly showing up in hair care, body care, and now makeup. Ingredient suppliers have noticed, and they’re building the technology platforms to match.
None of it gets to a shelf, though, without a middleman most shoppers never think about. Faravelli distributes ingredients and helps brands turn a formulation concept into something a factory can actually produce at scale, work that sits well outside where most of the credit in a beauty launch usually lands. Deals like this one hint at distributors doing more of that translation work themselves rather than waiting for a brand to ask.
Whether Skin Longevity Butter itself ever shows up on a shelf is almost beside the point. The concept behind it, using biotechnology to get skin to repair and renew rather than simply sit under a layer of moisture, is where the industry’s longevity story seems to be heading next: fewer products built to hide what aging looks like, more built to interrupt it at the source. If body care follows the path facial skincare already took, the ingredient panel on a body butter may soon read a lot more like the one on a serum.
